“You are not in the mountains. The mountains are in you.”  This quote from John Muir couldn’t describe better the life Schaunon Winter lives and loves every day.  Her affinity for mountain life is even reflected in the song her brother-in-law wrote called “She wants to live in the mountains.” It’s no wonder, then, she has focused her career on helping others to achieve a luxury mountain lifestyle of their own. 

Schaunon was born and raised in the small town of Ardmore, Oklahoma as the youngest of five children. Her father was an entrepreneur, inventor, and author, and her mother was mostly a homemaker who helped in the family businesses. Throughout her childhood, they raised quarter horses and owned a sewing machine repair shop and a rubber stamp business. Schaunon was responsible for cleaning and maintaining the grocery store stamps, which was the first time she remembers feeling ‘entrepreneurial’. She credits her father for igniting that spirit in her.

After high school, Schaunon worked as a secretary at a building contractor’s office, where she learned skills in home construction. This fostered her love for real estate, which actually began at a young age on the playground. When other kids were playing, you could find Schaunon drawing house plans. Schaunon would eventually move to Colorado and it was love at first sight.  The mountains seemed to call to her, and she fell easily into the lifestyle.  It was there she married her husband, Mark.  He is a land developer and investor, which inspired Schaunon to pursue her lifelong love of homes and earn her real estate license. Since that time, she has gone above and beyond to help people from across the country who are seeking a first or second home in the mountains of Colorado.  That’s how her mantra, ‘Moving Mountains’, came to life. 

Today, Schaunon is a Certified Mountain Area Specialist with in-depth knowledge of mountain areas west of Denver. She specializes in helping those who are approaching or in retirement to rightsize to a more lifestyle-fitting home. She has listed over 2500 homes and has connections throughout the U.S. and Mexico for cross country moves. She’s known for being the hardest working Realtor in her area and giving buyers & sellers the one on one attention they desire and deserve. Her other certifications include International Property Specialist, Senior Real Estate Specialist & Luxury Home Marketing. 

When Schaunon isn’t helping clients, you can find her hiking in the mountains with her husband or traveling to see their children. She’s also passionate about health and wellness and loves to give back to the community. Schaunon was the president of her local National Charity League and has spearheaded several philanthropic events over the years, such as Evergreen’s Got Talent and Evergreen Music Festival, an annual July 4th event. Going the extra mile to help others has always been her calling, and she hopes to move mountains for more people so they can enjoy the life and home they deserve.
